Wellbeing

Our staff and students well-being is very important to us at OCA. For students, we understand the pressures of school life and therefore try our best to ensure there is a balance between academic studies for students and a cathartic release. The academy enrichment programme provides students the opportunity to experience and gain opportunities that may not be possible within their curriculum lessons. The programme is regularly updated responding to student voice and student needs. Every department has a comprehensive CEIAG programme encompassing the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks, and within this we encourage the use of employers, visits to places of work and master classes in further and higher education to enable students to experience life beyond the academy. Finally, despite COVID, we are still an academy that seek every opportunity to broaden horizons and visit places both in this country and abroad.

Lockdown enabled us to reflect and realise how important well-being is for good health, therefore, we went out in the community to deliver well-being resources and put well-being sessions on as part of the lockdown curriculum. Please take a look at some of the pictures sent in from our well-being activities during this time.

Staff have well-being weeks at the end of the Autumn and Summer terms and various other treats along the way. Events are held to enable staff to switch off and enjoy something different both in and out of school.
