Our Community

Community means a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common, a group of people living together and practising common ownership in a particular area.

At OCA, community is at the heart of everything we do; it is one of our core values as we believe our Academy is at the heart of the wider community. Our students are ambassadors and representative of us in the community, living out all our OCA values by exhibiting:

• originality by thinking creatively and independently when in the wider community
• aspirations by our links with our local colleges, employees and local businesses
• excellence by our outstanding reputation and standing in the community
• respect by holding all members of our wider community in high regard by taking their wishes, feelings and rights into account

Working with, involving and contributing to our wider community is essential; our students organised and implemented a community fundraiser for local charities which raised £300. In addition, we invited community members to our MacMillan coffee morning which raised £86 as well as inviting parents, grandparents and siblings to our Books for Breakfast event.
