Here at Ormiston Chadwick Academy, we are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for all students, staff, parents and carers irrespective of race, gender, disability, belief, sexual orientation, age or socio-economic background.

We aim to have a a culture of inclusion and diversity in which everyone can be proud of their identity and who they are whilst participating fully in school life. We recognise the uniqueness of each individual abd value their contributions to the academy and the community. We want to enable everyone to value, respect and live in harmony with others.

Discrimination is tackled through the promotion of equality in all lessons including our personal development lessons. We challenge any bullying and ensure there is respect for all and also the community.

Equality in Teaching and learning

All of our students are provided with a knowledge rich curriculum where students make outstanding progress. We do this by:

  • Preparing them for life in a diverse society
  • Using materials that reflect the diversity of the academy, population and local community without stereotyping
  • Promoting attitudes and values that challenge any discriminatory behaviour or prejudice
  • Seeking to involve all parents / carers  in supporting their child’s education
  • Utilising teaching approaches which are inclusive for all

Our admissions arrangements are fair and transparent and do not discriminate on the grounds of race, gender, religion, belief, disability and/or socio-economic background. They are set across the council to ensure fair access for all applying

Equal Opportunities for Staff

All staff appointments and promotions are made on the basis of merit and ability and in compliance with the law. We are keen to ensure that the staffing of the school reflects the diversity of our community. We have three members of staff who are safer recruitment trained so that all applicants are treated fairly.
