LGBTQ+

At OCA, we pride ourselves on creating an inclusive environment where all students feel safe and comfortable so that they can thrive during their time with us. By having LGBTQ+ as part of our personal development curriculum, it has enabled us to create a safe place where students can ask questions and participate in class discussions where mutual respect is shown throughout. This also extends outside of the classroom during year group assemblies and morning enrichment.

In addition, the LGBTQ+ enrichment club acts as a safe place for students to meet and discuss current affairs by using their own voice to express their opinions, feelings and ideas that are then implemented across the school. Teachers show their dedication to inclusivity by consistently educating themselves on the topic and wearing the visible rainbow lanyards as a physical show of support. This inclusive environment is something that we are incredibly proud of at OCA as we want to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard.
